AKURE EXPLOSION - Fear and Panic as explosion hits Akure

Akure city has been set into confusion as an explosion hit the city during the early hours of Saturday 28th March, 2020.

The explosion occurred around 1.00 a.m on Saturday morning and up till now, the cause of the explosion, which cut off a section of Akure-Owo Expressway, has not been ascertained.

Eyewitnesses said it was likely that explosives being transported through the area detonated unexpectedly.

The blast destroyed a popular church located less than a kilometer to Akure Airport -Possibility Church. Houses were damaged and a private secondary school, Aina Awawu International College, was also damaged.

According to Sahara Reporters, thirteen injured people have been hospitalised.
